A Daughter Sharing Her Mother's Recipes

Made the Telangana Way

Homemade pickles, karam podis, and laddus made in small batches.

Growing up, Nirmala watched her mother make pickles every season. Avakaya when the raw mangoes were right. Gongura when the sorrel harvest came in. Laddus and podis ground fresh for every festival. The kitchen always smelled of roasting spices and cold-pressed oil. That smell was home.

After marriage, Nirmala moved to a new house - far from her mother's kitchen. Her mother would send jars of pickle wrapped carefully in newspaper, and everyone who tasted them asked the same question: where did these come from? Nobody made pickle like that anymore.

For a long time, Nirmala searched for that taste - in shops, in markets, in the brands that claimed to be authentic. None of them came close. The oil was wrong. The spice blend was wrong. The pickles tasted like they were made to last on a shelf, not to be eaten with rice and ghee on a Sunday morning.

So she went back to her mother's recipe and started making it herself. Not to sell. Just to remember. But the people who tasted it asked the same question her mother's jars always inspired - where did these come from?

That's how Nirmala's Home Kitchen began. Not with a business plan, but with a jar of Avakaya and the simple desire to share a taste that the people who grew up with it couldn't find anywhere else.

Made in Telangana

Every product is made in Nirmala's kitchen in Telangana - in small batches, by hand. The pickles use cold-pressed peanut oil and Warangal chapata mirchi, the flat red chilli variety local to this region. The karam podis are ground fresh after your order is placed, not pre-batched in advance. The laddus are hand-shaped while the mixture is still warm, the way they've always been made.

Karam, Ghee & Memories - in every jar. Nothing leaves the kitchen that Nirmala wouldn't put on her own family's table.
